Sutton Valence 4's 7 - 3 Old Williamsonians 5's

OW's went into this match on the back of 2 good wins, and things looked promising when the opposition turned up with only 9 players. However, this optimism was short lived as it was soon apparent that their team was full of "ringers". They were so confident that they didn't play with a kicking back even though their goalkeeper wasn't turning up until half-time.

The early stages went back and forth with OW's utilising the excessive space well, but unfortunately were to fall behind during one of their attacks. OW's eventually managed to convert an effort when Harvey got a vital touch on Hilton's firm shot from just outside the area. Pressure continued and after a good move down the left, McGrath assisted Hilton who deftly despatched his shot into the unguarded goal. A third goal came shortly after when George Dann neatly tucked away another effort from Harvey. But this is when things turned for the home team. After a couple of quickfire goals themselves and the arrival of their goalkeeper, they soon took control and went into a half time lead.

Despite many OW attacks in the 2nd half, none could be converted. During one specific OW short corner routine, Sutton Valence took the ball and ran up the other end of the pitch to score. Two more goals for the opposition, showing their higher team class and slick passing, completed the scoring. Man of the Match = Dean Harvey and George Dann
