14-7-08 : OWHC to take part in the Medway Mile.

All players are encouraged to turn up at the Black Lion Leisure Centre on Sunday 27th July (in kit !!) to take part in the Medway Mile. This is a fun run organised by Medway Council as part of the countdown to 2012, and is also an opportunity to raise the profile of the Club and maybe even attract some new players! The fun run starts at 4PM but there are a host of other events from Midday ; full details and entry form can be downloaded here Medway Mile. All participants in the Medway Mile should pre-register using this downloadable form or via the internet and you even get a free T-shirt (sorry Kenny, no brown ones).

So come on, GET YOU KIT ON and let's ensure there are more OWHC shirts in the race than Holcs ones !!

30-3-08 : Annual Dinner Dance 2008

Martin and Judith Pinder once again organised another enjoyable and successful evening at the Franklin Rooms, Gillingham with over 100 players (past, present and future - not another Doust!) together with guests in attendance. Chairman Wright introduced his own brand of what was loosely described as humour, as Dave Routledge, thinking he was attending a wedding, proceeded to throw confetti over the place.

Congratulations to the Monk (Gary Bage) and Lucinda de Grey for winning best male and female player of the season respectively, to Ian (Eddie) Pentecost for collecting the Alan Medhurst trophy for services to the
Club and to MC Peter King for successfully avoiding having his gavel inserted somewhere uncomfortable! Here are some pictures taken during the course of the evening (as ever, click on image to enlarge);

25-2-08 : Milton Keynes Tour

The dates for this summer's Milton Keynes Tour are Friday 13th - Sunday 15th June 2008.  Anyone interested should contact Helen Seymour on 07702 112444, or by e-mail at helenlabrahams@hotmail.com

25-1-08 : Race Night - 29th February 2008

At the last committee meeting we decided to have a race night. It will be held on Friday 29th February 2008 starting at 7.30pm. Below are the details of horse sponsorship and what you can win outside of the betting on the night. The evening itself will have a £1 per bet limit so theoretically the kids can just turn up with £9 for the night and have a bet on each race (trying to give the impression that it is not expensive or that we are really promoting gambling!!)

We will be providing a buffet for the evening and the bar will be open plus there will be a raffle. So to summarise:-

* Race night to be held at the OW club house on the 29th February at 7.30 (first race commencing at 7.45).
* There will be 8 races containing 8 horses. All horses are up for sale to team members for £5 each. One purchased Horse's can be named whatever you like (try and keep it clean!!).
* If you buy a horse and on the night it wins its respective race, the owner of that horse will win £10.
* You can also sponsor and name one of the 8 races for £20. Each of the race sponsors will then have a horse in the special 9th "sponsors race", where the winning horse/race sponsor will win £40.
* Horses are for sale through Team Captains or Ken Mackness (07747765158), first come first served

Thanks,

Kenny
