Match Report 15-11-08

Gore Court         8      :       OW Ladies 2          1

On a bright sunny morning and another early start, OW's knew this game against top of the division, Gore Court would be tough.

Gore Court started strongly but the OW's defence rose to the challenge and managed to keep the ball out of the goal early in the first half. However, eventually the pressure proved too much and despite some outstanding goal keeping by Kirsty Sullivan, OW's had conceded 3 goals by half time.

A raising team talk by Kenny at half time filled OW's with renewed confidence. But unfortunately, despite some good individual performances by Helen Seymour (who now has a fat lip plus stitch for her trouble), Becky Collins and player of the match, Kirsty Sullivan we found ourselves 8-0 down.

Late in the game a rare breakaway opportunity allowed Julie Dykes to scoop the the ball into the D which was superbly put away by Maria Koller-Willard. A small consolation for a tired and poorly OW's team.

Team: Kirsty Sullivan, Hannah Fulford, Sarah Ashdown, Helen Seymour, Becky Collins, Susan Daye, Vikki Colville, Hester Thompson, Julie Dykes, Paula Boarer, Maria Koller-Willard, Teri Stewart and Gemma Mould.

Match Report 8-11-08

BBHC         1      :       OW Ladies 2          3

Playing in a spit of rain proved a lot more successful than the horizontal torrent of water that we faced last week. OW's grabbed the lead early when Maria Koller-Willard found herself unmarked in front of an open goal. This early goal however, did not seem enough to wake OW's up fully and we soon found ourselves all level at 1-1. Some magnificent saves by Sally ensured that no more goals were conceded before half-time.

In the second half OW's finally started stringing some passes together. A fantastic cross by Kirsty Sullivan allowed Paula Boarer to score her first goal of the day. A passage of end to end play eventually gave Paula the chance to score again. Let's hope the winning continues!

Team: Sally, Becky Collins, Sarah Ashdown, Helen Seymour, Kate Strevens, Susan Daye, Vikki Colville, Hannah Fulford, Julie Dykes, Kirsty Sullivan, Paula Boarer, Maria Koller-Willard and Hester Thompson.

Match Report 1-11-08

OW Ladies 2          0      :       Cobdown          3

It was cold, it was extremely wet, we were 3-0 down after 30 minutes. Finally we switched our brains on, conceded the match and retired to the bar !

Match Report 25-10-08

OW Ladies 2          5      :       Cobdown          1

An absolute cracking game by OW's ladies 2nd team. They took the lead early in the first half when a well timed cross found Paula Boarer, who pushed the ball past the keeper. Unfortunately, OW's then found themselves pushed back into their own half. Mounting pressure eventually resulted in a short corner from Cobdown which they duly converted. OW's picked themselves up and took the lead again thanks to a cracking goal from Fiona Wilson.

A better team effort in the second half was rewarded with further goals from Paula and Maria Koller-Willard. Player of the match, Paula secured a hat trick, when a brilliant dummy by Fiona gave her a clear shot on goal.

Overall the team are glad to be back to winning ways.

Team: Sally Kelly, Kate Strevens, Fiona Wilson, Helen Seymour, Sarah Ashdown, Susan Daye, Vikki Colville, Becky Collins, Hanna Fulford, Julie Dykes, Paula Boarer, Maria Koller-willard, Kate Fitton, Gemma Mold.
